Photographing with Limited English :: Part Two
I have a German Talent Agent…aka my brother’s girlfriend. She finds beautiful German families for me to photograph and she did not disappoint with this group. Again, both parents spoke limited English but we made it work with lots of sign language:-) The first part of the session was photographed at Classic Remise in Dusseldorf. A wonderful car museum that has two stories filled with cars from each decade. This beauty from the 1950’s was the perfect backdrop for their very first image. Gotta love when you get awesome on the first frame.
After shooting in the museum we made our way to downtown Dusseldorf. Their son wasn’t feeling 100% so we finished the session with just momma and her daughter. Two seconds before this shot was taken I sat down next to the mom and hugged into her exactly as her daughter is doing so in the photo. I love a kid who’ll reenact for me!! And when I proceeded to make fish faces at her, she did the same. The beauty of laughter and giggles is that it really has no language barrier! These final shots were completely just the two of them goofing around. My favorite kind of shots. Parents just enjoying their kids…it’s the same in every language.
