I know there are plenty of friends from the Jersey area that have never been to the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, or the Jersey Shore for that matter. It really all boils down to what you have an interest in seeing, how you like to spend your time and each individual person’s bucket list. When we bought our home in Arizona four years ago I was really eager to head up to the Grand Canyon. I had been there a few years before on a Spring Break with our kids, but being kids there may have been a bit of whining involved, someone was always hungry (more like dying of starvation), or needing to use the facilities! Because of that, I wanted to visit the canyon without distractions. Since then, I have been to Grand Canyon National Forest five or six times with visiting family and friends. Even though I know that nothing has changed in the few months that I’ve been away, I’m always in awe when I see it again. I am even more excited when I venture to the rim with those who have never seen it before.
My mother and my aunt came out to visit in January and my mother had only seen the Grand Canyon a few years ago when we made a stop on the trip back from Las Vegas. Not enough time to really gaze upon her beauty. My aunt had never been, and it was the perfect excuse to pack the girls into the car and head north. From our home in Gilbert, AZ you can be standing at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon in three and a half hours. A beautiful drive past Sedona and Flagstaff. It’s really hard to explain the vastness of the Canyon once you’re there….but it is truly amazing to gaze upon one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.
