I remember seeing this very fun wedding album by a French photographer a few years ago. Though I only shoot a select number of weddings each year, about 4-5, I still loved everything about her shoot and the creativity that she put into perfecting every detail. It stuck in my memory. After attending a workshop in Chicago last month it stirred the desire to try anything and everything, even the fun and silly. So last night I was thumbing through Vogue, Elle and Bazaar magazines I kept visualizing the models as Barbies!! I don’t know why…maybe because so many looked lifeless in the eyes. And then the idea sprang to create a senior shoot using Barbies and to place them in various places around town that I usually take high school seniors.
Now honestly, if you walked into your local coffee shop and spotted a women sitting by herself dressing and undressing Barbies, what would you really think?? I wasn’t really paying close attention to the smirks, smiles and cocks of the head in my direction today:-) One lady did stop by my table and told me I looked as though I was having fun!! HA!! And I was. So Barbie, Ken, and what may have been Skipper, had their own senior shoot today in downtown Zionsville. I would like to thank my friend, Katie Wright, for allowing me the pleasure of hanging out with her Barbies! It was loads of fun. And I’m glad my friend Aliy showed up to help me out on the shoot…sometimes Barbie needed a little help getting dressed, or being posed, or her hair needed fixing. Come to think of it VERY similar to my actual seniors!!
The difference between the Barbies and my actual clients…mine are the ones who DON”T look like plastic. It’s a goal of mine. My seniors will always look natural. Call me crazy:-) Give me a call if you would like to set up a session for your senior to look like him or herself. 317-371-3097
This Barbie is also a spokesmodel for Inga’s Popcorn! She absolutely loves it and you will too!
